Our Story

Established in 2017, Abendigo Records is an independent record label, specialising in Roots, Reggae and Dub music with a conscious message. Working with legendary artists such as Michael Prophet, Prince Alla, Earl Sixteen, Sister Rasheda, Fred Locks, Brother Culture as well as local artists who are pioneers of Reggae in France, such as Colonel Maxwell, Ras Hassen Ti and more recently Beniam Willing … Abendigo records is managed by Sly & Jahlow based in Montpellier and Grenoble (France) respectively. Since its creation, Abendigo Records has released more than 20 vinyl records, all distributed worldwide, and more productions from the back catalogues will be released soon.

Jahlow is a Roots Reggae dub selector and a pioneer of dub sound systems in France, specifically in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Starting in 1986 in Grenoble with the Soul Syndikat Sound System alongside Fasimbas (aka Ceska), he is a long-time disciple of Jah Shaka.In 1991, he moved to Annecy and founded the Jahlow Sound System.
Over the years, he has shared the stage with major reggae and dub figures such as Earl Sixteen, Brother Culture, Anthony Johnson, Kenny Knots, Manasseh, Lone Ranger, and Wayne Smith.

A major player in the local scene, he notably produced and played alongside Jah Shaka in Annecy and Grenoble in 1994, and previously owned iconic venues like Le Balafon and Le Sabar concert halls, as well as the Reggae Bar Restaurant Dubplate Café.
Currently, he co-manages the Abendigo Records label with his partner Sly.

Back in Grenoble since 2022, he develops the Dubpépite Reggae Shop and hosts the DUBPEPITE ROADSHOW on Radio Campus Grenoble.

Sly Abendigo is a Selector with over 15 years of experience, passionate about Reggae Roots and Dub music. He started collecting vinyl records in 2009 and has since been a regular attendee of veteran Sound System sessions, developing a deep connection with the UK sound culture by immersing himself in the unique vibes of legendary Sound Systems such as Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti-I, Channel One, Jah Youth, Entebbe Sound and Word Sound and Power, to name just a few.

It was from this early passion that he began to gain recognition on the local scene, selecting for the first time on the Jahlow Sound System in Annecy. Over teh years, his sets, blending exclusive dubplates with sharp rootikal vinyl selection, led him to play in several cities across France and internationally, from Montpellier to Edinburgh and as far as Guadeloupe..

In 2017, alongside Jahlow, he co-founded Abendigo Records, an ambitious project focused on Roots Reggae and Dub productions with a conscious message. The duo strives to promote authentic sounds and convey positive values through their music. Since 2025, Sly host the Dub Shower Radio Show at Radio Campus Montpellier.
